Lebanon, NH - Police were called to the ICU on the fourth level of the hospital's North building shortly before 1:30 p.m. Witnesses reported hearing "Code Silver”. NH. Heavily armed officers entered the building going door-to-door to evacuate staff and patients, some in wheelchairs.
Attorney General MacDonald said Travis Frink, 49, of Warwick, Rhode Island, shot and killed Pamela Ferriere, 70, of Groton, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s intensive care unit on the main campus. MacDonald said Frink signed the visitor log and went to the ICU Four-South, where he fired more than one shot. Frink was charged with First Degree Murder at approx 8 PM the day of the shooting.
NH State Police set up a command post at the North entrance of the hospitals where local, state, and federal law enforcement assembled. SWAT units were requested from NHSP, Keene, and Manchester, NH. Units from Vermont State Police also responded as well as several first responders from fire and EMS agencies.
