Greenfield, NH - A man alone working on clearing a trail was injured early Friday morning and was in and out of responsiveness. The remote area approximately 1 mile from Fletcher Farm Rd in Greenfield, NH has limited cell service. A call came to 911 shortly before 11 am believed to be the injured male calling with approx locations.

The response brought Greenfield Fire, Peterborough Rescue, Lyndeborough Fire, Francestown Fire, Greenfield Police, and Francestown Police to the area. DHART medical helicopter was also called to be on standby for the medical and to assist in spotting the man from the helicopter.

At approx 12:30 PM the man was found with his 6 month old dog Rusty by his side, and the man was suffering from head injuries, and exposure to the cold. DHART landed at a landing zone set up off Fletcher Farm Rd with the family of the man waiting for updates.

According to Greenfield Officer Shea the rescue personnel using ATVs and manpower removed the man. According to radio broadcasts to the landing zone the person was being treated for hypothermia, and lacerations down to the skull from an apparent chainsaw wound.

The man in his sixties was put in the Peterborough ambulance and a family member who brought the man and the dog to the landing zone. DHART medics gave pre-flight care and then the man was moved to the helicopter alongside Rusty who was held by the mans relative.

The man was flown to UMASS Medical in Worcester with serious injuries.
