Londonderry Fire responded to Independence Drive for a report of a goose stranded on the ice. LFD concerned about the goose, and that a civilian might try to go out on the thin ice decided to take action.

LFD put on ice rescue suits, and used specialized rescue equipment to safely reach the area of the goose. The goose was coerced to the edge of the water where it was taken to the waiting fire apparatus to be examined.

The goose was warmed in a blanket, and after consultation with NH Fish and Game the bird was released with the other members of the flock. The goose could be seen walking off into the wooded area with the others.
