MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester Fire, EMS, and police were dispatched to the Electric Street boat ramp for a report that some people in a boat discovered a body in the Piscataquog River on July 7, 2023,

Firefighters launched two boats around 7:30 p.m. and were directed to an area of the river about 350 yards from the boat ramp. Firefighters worked in an area that appeared to be a cove, and a short distance from a sandy beach area that many people swim at.

The body was placed in one of the boats and the body was brought to the boat ramp where police began their investigation. New Hampshire State Police and New Hampshire Marine Patrol were requested to the scene.

The office of the New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner was summoned to the scene, and the body was removed from the scene by a local funeral home.

Marine Patrol and state police were still at the scene at 10 p.m. and indicated no information would be released on the identity of the person until later this weekend.

Patch was able to verify the body was that of an adult male, It is unknown how long the body had been in the water but it appeared based on information gathered at the scene that it had been there for an extended time.

The water level of New Hampshire rivers and lakes are very high due to several days of heavy rain throughout New Hampshire.

Last Thursday an intense search was launched in Manchester on the Merrimack River for a woman who fled from Deputy Sheriffs and jumped in the river. New Hampshire Fish and Game, Manchester Fire, and Marine Patrol searched the river last Friday but never located the woman.

A week after the woman went missing there have been several credible sightings of her in the Manchester area, and she is believed to be alive. Hillsborough County Deputy Sheriffs are continuing the search in Manchester and surrounding areas.
