MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester Police say that a 71-year-old man riding a bicycle was struck and seriously injured by a car that fled the scene at Central and Union streets.

Manchester Fire and AMR were dispatched Wednesday afternoon at about 3:45 p.m. for a motor vehicle that struck a bicycle.

On arrival, they found the man who was riding the bike with severe head injuries and activated a trauma alert at the Elliot Hospital.

Police closed off Union Street and several other streets in the area while Manchester Police investigated the accident.

Initial information is that a car, possibly black or dark-colored, fled from the scene. Investigators gathered video surveillance footage from several cameras in the area.

Also, witnesses told police they had seen a black vehicle collide with the bicycle in the intersection. The vehicle did not stop and continued to drive east on Central St.

Police believe the vehicle is a newer model black Nissan Rogue with New Hampshire veteran plates on the vehicle.
