Manchester, NH - Manchester Fire received multiple calls for a structure fire on Lakeside Drive on Friday at about 1:30 p.m.

While en route additional apparatus was added to the call based on several reports of heavy fire, and a working fire status was requested.

On arrival firefighters had heavy fire in an attached garage which was quickly spreading to the attic of the single-family home, and causing brush fires spreading to the neighbors yard.

Crews stretched multiple hose lines, and ran water supply from a significant distance. Ladder trucks set up and cut ventilation holes and worked to suppress the fire in the attic. A second-alarm was requested for manpower and station coverage from multiple cities and towns.

The homeowner reported all people were out of the house, however one dog was missing.

AMR medics assisted with handing water out for hydration to the firefighters who were battling high temperatures.

After the fire was brought under control one dog was located that perished in the fire.

Manchester Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire, however the initial cause appears to be accidental and not related to smoking materials which was reported by other media outlets.
