MFD Awards The Chief’s Award of Excellence To Lt. Ryan Ouellette, FF Justin Chase, FF Andrew Flores, AMR Kaitlyn Laplante and Josie Long
This incident took place on July 23, on Bryant Rd. Engine 3 responded with ALS 1 to a Bryant Rd address for a bee sting.
Their patient had no prior history of allergic reactions to bee stings. Upon arrival, Engine 3 found a patient with severe breathing difficulty and was pale, diaphoretic, and cyanotic.
The Engine 3 crew recognized these signs of anaphylactic shock and quickly began treatment. Epinephrine was given via IV prior to the arrival of AMR ALS 1. Upon arrival of ALS 1 patient care was continued by Engine 3 and ALS 1.
Further interventions were performed stabilizing the patient for arrival at the Elliot hospital. The ER doctor credited the crew of Engine 3 and ALS 1 with saving the patient’s life. Because of their professionalism and outstanding patient care I would like to present Lt. Ryan Ouellette, FF Justin Chase, FF Andrew Flores, AMR Kaitlyn Laplante and AMR Josie Long with the Chief’s Award of Excellence.
