Manchester Fire responded to a report of smoke in the building at 494 Wilson Street Wednesday afternoon. While en route dispatch advised the caller said the smoke appeared to be coming from an apartment where no one was home.

Crews arrived and had a smoke condition in the building and a working fire was requested bringing additional apparatus. Truck 7 and Truck 1 quickly set up under the utility lines and established a position to protect the exposure buildings if necessary.

Firefighters located the fire in a second floor apartment, and the fire had extended to the third floor. The fire was quickly knocked down and brought under control a short time later.

The cause and origin is being investigated by the Manchester Fire Marshals Office.
