MFD responded to Beech St between Valley and Auburn for multiple motorists caught in a flash flood. Intense rain poured down in Manchester during an intense afternoon storm, and the storm drains could not handle the volume. Streets immediately began to flood and water was rising quickly stalling cars, and stranding motorists.
MFD Rescue 1 and Engine 5 responded to the scene. Multiple firefighters worked to open storm drains and simultaneously reaching out to the motorists in the vehicles. MFD assisted the occupants to dry land, and worked with MPD to get the vehicles removed.
