MFD Oil In Merrimack River

MFD investigated a citizen concern and discovered a significant oil leak coming from a culvert in the area of Commercial St, north of the Granite St. bridge. Oil was flowing into the river from this culvert. Fire crews deployed 2 boats and used absorbent booms and pads to contain the oil. DES (NH Department of Environmental Services) was summoned to the scene and they assisted fire crews with attempting to contain the discharging fuel. As of the time of this press release MFD and DES along with other city agencies are attempting to identify and stop the source.
