MERRIMACK, NH - Merrimack police and fire responded to Bean Road Sunday for a report of a car that struck a pole, with wires down. Dispatch updated responding just after 10:00 a.m. that the car was possibly on fire.
A Merrimack police officer arrived and found everyone had safely removed themselves from the car, and several trees were on fire due to the live electrical wires.
Firefighters and medics evaluated the driver of the car who appeared uninjured, and did not require medical transport.
Eversource was called to the scene, and when they arrived shut the power off to a section of Bean Road. Once the power was shut off the fire in the trees was extinguished.
Bean Road was closed between Jefferson Drive and Kiara Drive while crews removed the pole, and worked to repair the damage. It is unknown how long the road will be closed.
