Firefighters From Merrimack Fire Rescue, assisted by our mutual aid partners from Bedford Fire Department, NH, Amherst Fire and EMS, Milford Fire Department, and Litchfield Fire Rescue participated in a day of hands-on practical training, including a live-fire exercise.

The training evolution included the following:

1) Use of fire service ground ladders, instructed by Dan MacAuley from Alarm of Fire, LLC. Instructor MacAuley is also a firefighter for the Boston Fire Department and assigned to Ladder 6.

2) Aerial / Truck Company operations instructed by Chief Guarnera, Assistant Chief O’Brien, and our instructor on the roof, our very own Fire Fighter Josh Coulombe.

3) The use of alternative water supplies (drafting, portable tanks, and rural hitch) was instructed by retired Merrimack Fire Fighter and owner of W.D. Perkins - Fire Pump Specialists, Wayne Perkins.

At the conclusion of these training evolutions, crews were involved in an exposure protection drill while we burned down an acquired structure donated to the department by Getinge.

Merrimack Fire-Rescue would like to thank Getinge, the instructors, and our mutual aid partners for everything they did to make yesterday very successful.
