NASHUA, NH - Nashua Fire Rescue held a ceremony recognizing the promotions of several members of the department including the swearing-in of a newly selected Assistant Chief of the Department.

Friends, family, and co-workers filled the East Hollis Street headquarters Sunday morning and listened to the accomplishments of several men and a woman.

Deputy Chief Mark Wholey was sworn in as the Assistant Chief of the Department replacing NFR Assistant Chief William Atkinson who will retire at the end of October. Wholey was sworn in by NFR Chief Steve Buxton and was pinned by his son and daughter.

Captain Nathan Armstrong was sworn in as the newest Deputy Chief replacing Deputy Chief Wholey. Deputy Chief Armstrong’s wife pinned his new badge after he was sworn in by Chief Buxton.

Three veteran Nashua Firefighters were sworn into the position of Lieutenant including Lt. Tom Lanzara, Lt Curtis Buxton, and Lt Cy Hebert. After the official swearing in by Chief Buxton they were pinned by family members.

Fire Alarm Operator Samantha Allen who has completed training and her probation period was sworn in and pinned by her mother.
