Nashua offers project “Safe Station” which allows anyone with an addiction issue who wants help to go to any Nashua Fire station and receive an immediate response and services.

This program uses the same steps that were rolled out in Manchester by MFD which was the first in the nation to do a program like this. In six months Manchester has provided services to over 700 people who reached out for help.

When a person goes to the Nashua Fire station they will be checked in by NFR fire fighters and AMR medical personnel. They will make sure the person is stable medically and doesn’t need medical assistance. Once cleared someone from Harbor Homes will come bring the person to their facility and immediately arrange for addiction rehabilitation.

According to Nashua Mayor Donchess “Our partners in this effort, which will begin today, include Nashua Fire Rescue, Harbor Homes, Keystone Hall, AMR, Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, St. Joseph Hospital, the Nashua Public Health Department, the Mayor’s Opioid Task Force, and the Nashua Police Department. I am grateful to all of them. “
