NH State Police Sunday at 2:15 AM attempted to stop a 2003 grey Nissan which was reported as stolen, and driven by a subject wanted in a domestic issue in Hartford, VT. The suspect was described as armed and dangerous and potentially under the influence. NHSP engage in an attempt to stop and the suspect fled at speeds reported as high as 130 MPH down route 89. He continued South on route 93 continuing at high speeds. The suspect continued on to the Everett South bound where Nashua Police put out spike strips in the area of Exit 2.

The suspect hit the strips deflating one tire but continued and took DW Highway South at high speeds. NPD, and NHSP continued the pursuit in to Tyngsborough, MA and then in to Chelmsford, MA. The suspects vehicle was operating on wheel rims, and became disabled on Rte 3A in the area of Vinal Square. As the officers approached the vehicle the suspect was seen suffering self inflicted stab wounds and lacerations.

Trinity ambulance and Chelmsford Fire were called to treat and transport the suspect. He was transported to a Boston hospital for serious but what was described as non life - threatening wounds.

The suspect was identified as Gregory Coffey,32 of Warwick, R.I. He was taken in to custody and is under protective guard at the hospital. He is charged by Chelmsford on the following

Being a Fugitive from Justice (Three Counts -- Vermont, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island)
Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
Operating Recklessly to Endanger
Failure to Stop for Police
Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Giving a False Name to Police
In addition he will face charges in NH, VT, and possibly RI.
