MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester Fire dispatch received multiple calls reporting a building fire at 259 Central Street on April 24, 2024. Battalion Chief Ken Proulx arrived at about 4:00 p.m. with heavy fire from the front corner of the building, heavy wind, and the fire spreading to 265 Central Street, a 4-story building. Crews stretched hose lines protecting the adjacent structures while firefighters and police evacuated both buildings. Several people and dogs were removed from the buildings and brought to safety. The fire was brought under control within 12 minutes of being dispatched. Four adults and two pets were displaced from the fire building and are being assisted by the Red Cross. The wind created challenges; however, the firefighters could bring the fire under control in twelve minutes. The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation by Manchester Fire Marshal’s Office. There were no injuries to firefighters or occupants of the building. Manchester Fire Personnel at the scene included Engines 5, 6, 7, 10, and 11, Trucks 1 and 7, Rescue1, Squad 1, Car 1, ALS 1, EMS 1, K4 and K9, 01, 03, 04
