Nashua Police Detectives were on the scene on Chestnut St Sunday morning at the scene of the 11-hour standoff.
The two-family house at the corner of Chestnut St and Brook St shows several signs of damage sustained during the incident. Damage includes broken windows, crushed fencing, and walls damaged in several places.
According to the owner of the house who was at the scene, a crime scene clean up company will be coming to repair the house, and make it safe. No one currently can live in the house due to the damage and the chemicals which were used during the stand-off. The owner also advised that the suspect smashed and damaged several items inside the house. They praised Nashua Police for bringing it to a safe ending and was glad that no one was seriously injured.
The occupants of the house are missing their Siamese cat which ran off during the incident, and they are hoping will be found and returned.
According to information gathered Shawn Goodine, 43 of Nashua came to the house shortly after 9 am Friday morning. He was verbally fighting and arguing with a resident, and was not supposed to be at the address. The suspect was asked to leave and allegedly made threatening comments and had a knife, so the police were called.
When NPD first arrived the situation was calm and Goodine was being asked to leave when he escalated the situation pushing the officer down the stairs on the Brook Street side of the house. Multiple NPD units arrived and Goodine retreated to the house, and according to multiple sources threatened to blow up the house.
Nashua Police set up a perimeter, called utility companies and evacuated the neighborhood. Area residents who were evacuated were not allowed back in the area until after midnight.
Shawn Goodine was arrested and faces charges, and it is anticipated there will be additional charges when the investigation is complete.
