MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester Police are investigating an incident involving gunfire in the Walmart parking lot on Gold Street in the Queen City Sunday. Two people are being treated at local hospitals with unknown injuries. According to a witness at the scene, a person arrived in a white van, got out of the van and walked towards a older Mercedes sedan. Reportedly the male from the van had a gun resembling a revolver and was engaging in a conversation with the male in the sedan.
The witnesses account was that the male exited the sedan and began firing several rounds at the male from the van. The person who had come from the van then retreated trying to get away. He was attempting to leave the parking lot as the other male continued firing shots. The van reportedly struck the male from the sedan and left the scene.
Heather Hamel, the public information officer for the Manchester Police Department, said the shooting occurred around 2:15 p.m. One person was taken to the hospital "for precautionary reasons" but that man "was not shot," she said. Hamel said a second individual, who did suffer a gunshot wound, drove himself to the hospital. Manchester firefighters and AMR responded and transported one person to the hospital. Manchester police has several cruisers on scene with a large area taped off with crime scene tape. A vehicle which wasn’t involved in the shooting appears to have been struck by gunfire. At this time Walmart remains open but a large portion of the parking lot is shut down due to the crime scene. Hamel said police are asking for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and speak with police at 603-668-8711.
