FOM 2024-0134
Manchester firefighters worked at a training site set up in an abandoned house that is scheduled to be demolished.
The access to the house was provided by the owner of the house, and it creates realistic scenarios that the firefighters could encounter any time when they respond to a fire.
Firefighters arrive at the training site not knowing what the scenario is until they are briefed by the training department. Some of the scenarios include that the home is on fire and a young child is trapped.
Crews stretch hose lines and enter the house that is filled by a smoke machine and immediately facing a challenging layout with very confined spaces.
After the scenario is run all the firefighters gather to have a group critique and review of what went well, and what can be improved on.
Manchester fire will continue to provide on hands training for several additional scenarios.
