MERRIMACK, NH - Merrimack Fire Rescue, and police were dispatched to a report of a vehicle off the road on Continental Boulevard on June 3, 2023
Dispatchers advised responders the vehicle was off the road and into a culvert and partially in the water. The vehicle's driver was not trapped, but dispatch advised a dog was also in the car.
Merrimack Firefighters arrived at the scene near Naticook Road and found a BMW sedan has left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and bounced into the water.
Bystanders assisted in getting the dog safely out of the car and secured the dog while firefighters brought the driver to the ambulance for evaluation.
Once the man was in the ambulance and evaluated firefighters brought the dog which appeared uninjured to him so he could comfort the dog. The man was evaluated by medics and refused transport to the hospital.
The utility pole had significant damage and utility crews will work to replace the broken pole. It does not appear there were any power outages as a result of the accident.
Lewis Towing worked to remove the vehicle from the culvert, and police retrieved some of the personal belongings from the vehicle for the driver.
The accident is being investigated by Merrimack Police.
