MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack Fire Rescue, police, and New Hampshire State Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash on the F.E. Everett Turnpike Southbound between Exit 12 and Exit 11 on August 20, 2023

Dispatchers advised units the vehicle was about 25 feet off the road, into the tree line, and was occupied by two adults and two very young children. Due to the number of patients and an additional ambulance was dispatched, it was requested to check the availability of a medical helicopter.

Merrimack police arrived at the scene at about 2:50 a.m. and found a man, a woman, a child about 4, and another child less than 1. All the victims of the accident were out of the vehicle. The woman in the vehicle was immediately transported from the scene by Merrimack Fire ambulance to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters evaluated the man and two children inside another ambulance at the scene. After an extended time, the man refused medical transport for himself and the two children. Firefighters retrieved the car seats from the vehicle and assisted in putting the car seats in a different vehicle, and transferred the children to the waiting car.

Information at the scene indicates the Lexus struck a Jersey barrier in the high-speed lane, careening off it and down the right side of the road, hitting a large cement pipe, narrowly missing a utility pole, and coming to rest in the woods about 25 feet off the road.

Lewis Towing worked for an extended time to remove the vehicle and debris from the woods.

New Hampshire State Police are investigating the accident. The final cause of the accident has not been released at this time.
