Manchester, NH - MFD received multiple calls for a structure fire at 735 Summer St. Upon arrival companies arrived to find fire showing on the rear second floor porches extending into the 3rd floor and attic area. Neighbors who discovered the fires were attempting to use garden hoses to extinguish the fire.
A quick knock down by MFD of the visible fire was achieved and extensive overhaul of the second and third floors was conducted.
The house is 2.5 stories, and has 4 units. 3 of the 4 units received smoke or fire damage. Seven occupants were displaced and will be staying with friends.
MFD investigators determined the fire appeared to have started on the second floor porches due to improper disposal of smoking materials.
According to District Chief Martineau Firefighters did an outstanding job extinguishing the fire quickly and confining it to the rear section of the building.
