Milford Fire Responds To Silo Fire At Manufacturing Facility

An off duty worker discovered fire coming from the top of a silo that contained wax which is used in manufacturing at Alene Candles at 50 Scarborough Lane at about 11 am Sunday.

On arrival a working fire was requested bringing mutual aid towns to the scene and for station coverage.

Crews worked to get the power shut off to the area of the fire, and then used the Milford ladder truck to stretch hose lines to extinguish the fire. The exterior insulation of the silo appears to be where the bulk of the fire was located.

Wilton Fire, and Merrimack Fire Rescue came to the scene, and Milford Ambulance stood by at the scene for EMS services.

The fire was extinguished and brought under control within about one hour and it does not appear to be any fire or smoke damage inside of the manufacturing facility.
