Manchester Police held an awards ceremony to recognize officers for outstanding service above and beyond the call of duty.

The Life Saving Medal is presented to Sergeant Christopher Biron in recognition of his prompt and alert actions, resulting in preventing a tragic outcome.
On June 4, 2017, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Sgt. Christopher Biron was on his way to the police department to begin his shift when he was flagged down near a park in the area of Lincoln and Howe streets. He was alerted to a man down, and possibly deceased, in the playground of the park.
Sgt. Biron quickly approached the area, confirming with a bystander that a 911 call had been placed. He observed an adult male lying on his back near a play structure. After assessing the man’s medical condition, determining the man was not breathing and did not have a pulse, Sgt. Biron began chest compressions. After two cycles of compressions, the man began to gasp for air, and Sgt. Biron was able to detect a pulse. Emergency medical service providers soon arrived and took over care for the man.
