MPD Standoff Shuts Down Streets, One Person Taken Into Custody

Manchester police were checking for a wanted person on Exeter Ave Saturday morning according to the MPD call log.

Witnesses said a man ran from the police who chased him on foot, and he ran into a multi-unit building at 185 Union Street.

Police set up a perimeter around several streets as they worked to confirm the man was still at the Union Street address.

Officers communicated with the man who remained in the house for an extended time. An MPD officer deployed a robot while several officers established a perimeter around the house. Communication was continued using the robot that was inside the building with the suspect.

As communication continued it appeared the man offered to come out, police moved closer and had a K9 at the door the suspect was going to exit from.

The man was secured in handcuffs and placed in the Manchester Police transport van.

MPD has not issued any information at this time on who the man was, or what charges he may face.

Updated information will be posted as it becomes available.
