Summer on the North Shore got its annual dose of live music and ocean breezes as WXRV/92.5 The River returned to Salisbury Beach for the 24th Annual Riverfest Music Festival. Held on Saturday, August 22, on the Broadway Boardwalk, the free oceanfront festival brought together local vendors, family-friendly boardwalk attractions, and an eclectic lineup of alternative, rock, and Americana acts. Headlining this year's festival were '90s alt-rock icons Spin Doctors, bringing their signature mix of funk, rock, and pop. Fronted by Chris Barron, the multi-platinum group closed out the day with fan favorites like "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" alongside jam-heavy deep cuts. The day's performances kicked off at noon and featured a dynamic supporting lineup: Buffalo Tom: The legendary Boston-born trio delivered a high-energy set anchored by '90s college-rock anthems like "Taillights Fade". Fantastic Cat: The Americana supergroup—comprising singer-songwriters Anthony D'Amato, Brian Dunne, Don DiLego, and Mike Montali—brought tight four-part harmonies and roots-rock charm. Gavin Marengi: The Salisbury native opened the stage with a soulful blend of folk, Southern rock, and outlaw country. Produced in partnership with the Salisbury Beach Partnership, the rain-or-shine event drew listeners from across New England. Attendees enjoyed local food spots, an outdoor beer garden, and more than 30 event exhibitors before wrapping up the summer celebration with evening fireworks over the Atlantic. ©Jeffrey Hastings www.frameofmindphoto.com/news
