May 27, 2021 - Manchester Police detectives spent several hours at 1454 Union Street Thursday. Police were seen taking photos, measurements, and removing items in evidence collection bags from inside and outside the house.

The house was the focus of a standoff for over 9 hours on Wednesday when shots were fired when U.S. Marshals arrived at the house with a DEA arrest warrant.

After shots were fired, the U.S. Marshals notified Manchester police who responded. When MPD arrived shots were fired again from inside the house, and multiple agencies responded to the scene.

Police officers were able to quickly remove four people from the house safely, and a 41-year-old man remained inside. Police negotiators spoke for several hours with the man on a cell phone, and then the man stopped communicating.

SWAT teams from Manchester and Nashua Police shot what Chief Allen Aldenberg described as “Irritants” hoping it would flush the man out of the house.

After there was no response, police deployed a drone inside the house. The drone was able to locate the man in the basement, and he was deceased. He appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, autopsy results have not been released at this time.

At a press conference, Chief Aldenberg said that no members of law enforcement returned fire when the initial shots occurred and no shots were fired during the incident.

Late Thursday control of the house was returned to the owner who is listed in tax records as Sasha Wenzell. Wenzell was shot outside the house in July 2020 and survived her injuries. The man who shot Wenzell reportedly ran inside the house and fatally shot himself.

Multiple agencies were involved in the incident Wednesday including Manchester police, Nashua police, Hillsborough County Sheriffs, FBI, DEA, U.S. Marshals, Manchester Fire, and AMR.
