Manchester Police held an awards ceremony to recognize officers for outstanding service above and beyond the call of duty.
The Life Saving Medal is presented to Officer Lisa Callahan in recognition of her outstanding performance of duty in preventing a tragic outcome.
On February 18, 2017, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Officer Callahan was dispatched for a reported overdose of a 22-year-old female victim who was not conscious and not breathing.
Officer Callahan was the first to respond to the scene and observed a male subject performing chest compressions on the victim. Officer Callahan quickly assessed the victims medical status and took over the chest compressions, continuing the medical aid until the victim began to breathe on her own. The victim regained consciousness prior to the arrival of emergency medical technicians. The victim confirmed that she had used a syringe to “shoot up” heroin prior to the overdose.
Officer Callahan’s quick response, initial medical assessment, and life-saving efforts resulted in the successful revival of the victim.
